John Riley has just posted a full review of the new announced Zeiss Otus 28mm F1.4 lens at the Ephotozine.com. It is the world’s best wide-angle lens for Canon and Nikon mount, with high and very even sharpness, very low CA, lovely “look” to images, beautiful engineering and low distortion. However, this manual lens is for $4,990, available for pre-order at B&H/ Adorama.
He tested Zeiss Otus 28mm F1.4 lens on Nikon D810 and made this conclusion at Ephotozine:”In 28mm optics, the Zeiss Otus is really on its own, so quite unique with its f/1.4 bright aperture. The quality is magnificent, but the bulk and weight are both very high…If we need the fast aperture and we can afford the price, then quality is not the obstacle. The only other consideration is the sheer weight and size as it is not a casual lens to carry…Is it the best 28mm lens in the world as Zeiss intended? Certainly in terms of the quality of results, it is flying very high as a serious contender for the crown...”
There are also several beautiful sample images. Just enjoy!
So far, there are another two Zeiss Otus Lenses: 55mm F1.4 and 85mm F1.4.
