then i saw the Samyang 12mm f2 which is super cheap but i keep hearing it's manual focus only... or is there an AF version now? my logic was that wider is better for the mountains but i dont want to carry a brick. is there a hidden gem i missed or something...?

What is the absolute sharpest prime lens I can get for my L-mount setup right now? Im shooting on a Lumix S1R so I really need something that can actually resolve all those megapixels for some commercial architectural stuff I have coming up here in Chicago next month.

Ive spent the last three nights reading reviews and looking at MTF charts and Im honestly more confused than when I started lol. Most people point to the Leica 50mm APO-Summicron-SL as the king of sharpness but that price tag is just insane and I am trying to figure out if its actually worth the jump over something like the Sigma 35mm f1.2 or the newer 50mm f1.4 DG DN Art. I read on one forum that the Sigma 35mm is actually sharper in the center than the Leica but then another guy said the corner falloff on the Sigma makes it useless for architecture if you arent stopping way down and honestly I dont want to buy a lens that only works at f8 because I need that low light capability too.

My budget is around $2500 max but I could maybe go a bit higher if it is gonna be a forever lens for me. I really need edge to edge clarity because I am doing large format prints. Im mostly looking at these right now:

Leica 50mm APO Summicron

Sigma 35mm f1.2 Art

Lumix S Pro 50mm f1.4

Is there a sleeper lens Im missing or is the Leica really that much better than the Panasonic Pro glass? I just want to make sure I am not overpaying for the red dot if the Sigma or Lumix glass is 95% of the way there...

The photos are always soft and the background isnt blurry at all and I am freaking out because I have my sisters engagement shoot next Saturday.

I have about 450 dollars saved up and need to order something today so it gets here but I keep getting confused by the crop factor. Some say the 50mm 1.8 is perfect but others say it is too tight for a crop sensor like the 90D. Is the 35mm a better bet or should I just get the 85mm and deal with standing further back? I just need that professional look fast...

I was thinking about the RF 100-500mm since everyone raves about the L series sharpness but then I saw the 200-800mm is out now and my logic was that more reach is always better right??

But then I read some threads saying the f/9 aperture on the long end of the 800 makes it basically useless in the woods or early morning and now Im second guessing everything. I got about $2500 saved up and Im trying to buy something before my trip next month. Is the 100-500 gonna be long enough on a crop body or am I gonna be cropping like crazy anyway...

I have a trip to Switzerland coming up in three weeks and I'm starting to realize my usual kit is just way too bulky for long days on the trail.

I'm torn between the 24-105 f/4 and maybe something more versatile but I don't want to waste that high res sensor on glass that isn't sharp. Budget is around 2k. Should I just stick with the f/4 or is there a better one lens solution for those mountain landscapes and street shots...

I am honestly about to lose it trying to pick a lens because every single person on YouTube says something different and it is making my head spin. I have been looking for a dedicated portrait prime for my Sony a7iii to shoot my cousins wedding in San Diego next month and I am totally stuck between the Sony 85mm f1.8 and the Sigma 85mm f1.4 DG DN. I read the Sony is the budget king but then some guys say the Sigma bokeh is way creamier and better for professional work. But then I see people complaining about the Sigma being too heavy or having autofocus issues in low light compared to native glass? Like which is it?? I dont want to spend a grand on a lens that misses focus when she is walking down the aisle because that would be a nightmare.

Heres what I am looking for:

Budget is strictly under $1000 (cant go higher or my wife will kill me)

Needs to be sharp even at f1.8 or f1.4

Fast enough autofocus for a moving bride

Not a brick because I am gonna be on my feet for 8 hours

I keep going back and forth and every time I think I have decided I read another forum post that says the opposite. Does anyone actually use these for professional gigs or are they just gear geeks arguing over nothing... I just need one solid answer so I can buy the thing and stop thinking about it.

I was looking at the 24-70mm 2.8 because obviously its the gold standard but then I saw some reviews saying the 24-105mm f4 is actually plenty sharp for that high res sensor and way lighter for hiking. Im heading to Iceland in October and my budget is strictly under 2.5k for the glass so i cant really do both. My logic was that the 2.8 is better for low light but does the extra reach of the 105 make more sense for landscapes? I just dont want to waste the resolution of this body on a lens that cant keep up...
