I've been shooting with a 5D Mark IV forever and finally made the jump to the R6 last month but honestly Im kind of freaking out about the lens options. I thought I knew what I was doing but the RF glass prices are insane and I'm seeing so many conflicting reviews about the non-L stuff vs the pro line. I have a wedding coming up in three weeks in Seattle (so basically zero light) and I need one lens that can handle everything because my back is starting to kill me from carrying a huge bag of primes.

I need something that stays on the body 90% of the time and wont let me down in a dark reception hall. Here is what I'm looking for:

Budget is around $1800 max

Must have solid autofocus (the eye AF on the R6 is new to me so I want it to actually work)

Needs to be relatively light for a full day of shooting

Weather sealing is a huge plus because of the PNW rain

I was looking at the 24-105 f4 L because of the range but Im worried that f4 is gonna be a disaster when the sun goes down. Then I looked at the 24-70 2.8 but it's way over my budget right now and I dont want to buy used for a big gig like this. Is the 24-105 really enough or am I gonna regret not having that extra stop? Or is there some sleeper lens I'm missing that everyone uses for a general walk-around? I just dont want to show up underprepared and ruin these photos...

Im heading to Kyoto soon and need one zoom for street shots and landscapes. I read that the 18-55mm is a classic but some folks say it cant handle the 40mp sensor resolution. Then there is the 16-80mm which has great range but Ive heard it gets soft at the edges which is annoying.

I have about $900 for this. I want something sharp enough for the high res sensor but not so heavy it kills my neck after walking all day. Whats the best all-around zoom that actually keeps up with the T5?

I just got this Canon R50 for my birthday because I wanted to take better pictures of my dog and my hiking trips in Washington, but I'm honestly so lost. It came with this tiny lens that zooms a little bit but everything I take inside looks kind of grainy and dark and just not like the professional stuff I see online. I was looking for a new one on Amazon but everything is like 800 bucks or more which is way over what I can spend right now since I only have about $250 left in my savings after buying the bag and stuff.

I saw some things called prime lenses that dont zoom and people say they are better for blurry backgrounds? But then I saw some that say RF and some that say RF-S and I have no idea if they both fit on my camera or if I need a special adapter plug thing for them. My logic was that a bigger lens means better pictures but maybe thats not true? I just want something that makes my dog look sharp and has that nice fuzzy background without spending a fortune. Is there like a cheap starter lens that everyone uses for this camera? I'm scared of buying the wrong thing and it not even clicking onto the front...

I just dropped a massive amount of money on the new R5 Mark II and now I'm honestly panicking a bit about which lens to actually keep on it most of the time. I've got this huge trip to Kyoto coming up in three weeks and I really dont want to be switching lenses constantly in the middle of a crowded street. I was looking at the RF 24-70mm f2.8 L because everyone says it is the gold standard but then I saw some reviews saying the 24-105mm f4 is actually better for travel because of the extra reach.

But then I worry if the f4 is gonna be trash in low light for like night markets or if it can even keep up with the sensor resolution on the R5II. I read one guy saying the 24-105 is soft at the edges but another person said the 24-70 is way too heavy to lug around for ten miles a day. My head is spinning and I feel like I'm gonna make the wrong choice and regret it the whole trip. I've only got about 2200 dollars left in my gear budget after the body purchase so I can really only pick one "do it all" lens for now.

What do you guys think is actually the best all-around zoom that can handle the 45mp sensor without weighing me down too much?

I have a friend's engagement shoot coming up in like three weeks here in Chicago and I'm freaking out because all I have is the kit lens and it just doesnt look right for portraits. I've been looking at the fuji 50mm f2 because it's small and cheap but I keep reading that for 'real' portraits you need that super shallow depth of field and people say the f2 might not cut it on a crop sensor if the background is messy. Then I saw everyone raving about the Viltrox 75mm 1.2 which sounds incredible for the price but I'm worried it's gonna be way too long if we end up doing some shots indoors at the cafe they like plus I heard it's kind of a brick to carry around. My budget is strictly under 400 bucks right now which is really stretching it after buying the body. I'm also really paranoid that if I buy a cheaper third party lens it's going to look soft on that 40 megapixel sensor since the X-H2 is so high res... like will a budget lens even work on this body or am I just wasting money? What is the best actual budget portrait lens for the X-H2 that wont make the 40mp sensor look like garbage?

I'm honestly pulling my hair out trying to decide which lens to dump my savings into. I have this gallery showing in Berlin coming up in three weeks and I need absolute, bite-your-head-off sharpness for these massive 40x60 prints. I've been obsessing over the Leica 35mm f/2 APO-Summicron-SL but then I started looking at the Panasonic Lumix S Pro 50mm f/1.4 and now I'm just confused.

My logic was that the APO designation on the Leica should mean it's the undisputed king of micro-contrast and edge-to-edge clarity, especially for the architectural stuff I do. But then I see these MTF charts and some guy on YouTube claiming the Panasonic 50mm is actually sharper wide open and costs literally half the price. I've also got the Sigma 35mm f/1.2 Art in the back of my mind because people say it's a resolution monster, but it's so heavy and I'm worried it lacks that specific pop the Leica glass is known for.

Budget is capped at around $5,000 so if I go with the Summicron I'm basically broke and probably buying used off eBay. It's so frustrating because every review contradicts the last one. One person says the APO is the sharpest lens ever made, period, and then another says the corners are soft compared to the S Pro. I just need the absolute sharpest option for a high res sensor, which one actually delivers the most detail when you're pixel peeping at 200%...

What is the best all-around lens for the Nikon Z series that wont break my back or my bank account? I finally pulled the trigger on a Z6ii and I am super hyped for my trip to Japan this November but honestly I am paralyzed by the lens options right now. I really just want one single lens that can stay on the camera like 90% of the time because I hate swapping glass when I am walking through busy streets or hiking up around Kyoto.

I did some digging and saw everyone talking about the 24-120mm f/4 S lens being the gold standard for travel but then I also see a ton of people saying the 24-70mm f/4 is almost as sharp and way cheaper on the used market. Like literally half the price. My budget is roughly $1,100 and I could swing the 24-120 if it is actually that much better but is it too heavy for all day carry? I also saw some people mention the 28-75 f2.8 for the better bokeh but then I lose that wide end at 24mm which feels important for tight city streets.

I am mostly doing street photography and some nature shots while we are out there and I just cant decide if the extra 50mm on the long end of the 120 is worth the extra bulk and cash or if I should just get the cheap 24-70 and spend the rest of my money on ramen and trains lol. Anyone actually used both and can tell me if the 24-120 is worth the hype for a one-lens setup?

I keep seeing people recommend the RF 100-400mm as the best value pick but then others say the f8 aperture makes it basically useless if you arent in direct sunlight.

I live in the PNW where it's always cloudy so I'm worried about that. I also looked at the tiny 55-210mm since it's so cheap but is 210mm even enough for birds at a distance? My budget is strictly under $600 and I need to grab something before a hiking trip in three weeks. Should I just get an adapter and look for an old EF lens instead or is sticking with native RF better for the autofocus speed...

Ive been shooting with my 5D Mark IV forever but I'm finally looking to jump to mirrorless for that eye AF because my keeper rate on dance floors is just not great lately. I've been eyeing the R6 for a while but with the Mark II out the pricing seems all over the place and I cant tell if the original is actually going on sale this week or if they're just phasing it out.

I'm based in Chicago and checked B&H but everything looks like the standard price still. I've got about $1800 set aside and need to pull the trigger before my holiday sessions start in two weeks. Has anyone spotted any actual Black Friday drops for the R6 Mark I or are they just pushing the Mark II?
