Heading to Italy in two weeks and freaking out over my kit size. Saw the RF 28mm is tiny but has no stabilization, and people say the 18-45mm kit lens is way too slow for low light.

My budget is $300 and I need something that wont fail me... which compact lens is actually best for the R10?

In my experience, the Canon RF 28mm f/2.8 STM is the winner. Its sharper than that Canon RF-S 18-45mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM kit lens and better for dim restaurants. If you want wider for those narrow streets, maybe check the Canon RF 16mm f/2.8 STM, though it can look a bit weird on the edges. Honestly though, the 28mm is the perfect daily pancake.
