I've been rocking the A7III for like four years now and it’s been a total beast but the autofocus is starting to feel a bit dated compared to what my second shooters are using these days. I finally decided it was time to pull the trigger on an A7IV so I can finally get that 10-bit 4:2:2 internal for some hybrid work I have coming up next month. Problem is I checked B&H and Adorama today and prices seem exactly the same as they were six months ago? I was really hoping for a spring sale or something because my budget is capped at around $2200 since I still need to grab a few more V90 cards to actually use the new bitrates without the camera yelling at me.

I’m based in Philly and usually go to local shops but even they’re holding firm on MSRP right now which is frustrating. Is there some hidden promo code or a specific bundle deal I’m missing somewhere? I’ve looked at the EDU discounts too but since I’m not a student anymore thats a no-go lol. I really need to get this ordered in the next week or so to get it rigged up before this big commercial shoot in June. Is anyone seeing any deals or maybe a reputable site doing a trade-in bonus right now?

my logic was that black friday would have like huge discounts but i dont even know where to look. is it better to go to best buy or just order from canon directly?? im so nervous that i will spend all my money on a camera that is too hard for me to use or maybe i should just stick to my phone... but i really want those blurry background photos everyone has.

does anyone know if canon usually does good deals for black friday or if the prices stay the same? i keep checking websites and getting more confused because some say body only and i dont even know what that means. do i need to buy a lens too?? i feel like im in over my head honestly and i dont want to miss the window to buy...

I just got a Canon EOS R5 and honestly I think I might be in over my head already lol. I know it is a really fancy camera but I basically know nothing about photography yet... sorry if this is a totally dumb question but I am so confused about which glass I need to actually use it. Right now it is just the body sitting in a box and I realized I cant even take a photo without a lens? Yikes. I have been googling but there are so many numbers and letters like RF and EF and L-series and I just want one lens that I can keep on the camera all the time for everything. I dont want to be carrying around a huge bag of different lenses and swapping them out because I will probably drop something or get dust inside the camera.

I am going on a trip to Iceland next month so I really need to get this sorted soon. I want to take pictures of the scenery but also some photos of my husband and maybe some close up shots of flowers or food? Just like a do it all kind of thing. I heard the R5 is great for detail so I want something that makes the photos look really crisp but I have no idea where to start.

Here is what I am looking for:

something that works for big landscapes but also taking pictures of people

I dont want it to be too heavy because we are going to be hiking a lot in the cold

my budget is around $1000 to $1500 if that is realistic? I spent so much on the camera body that I am a bit tight now

simple to use for a beginner who doesnt understand all the manual settings yet

I saw something called a 24-105mm online? Is that good? Or should I get a prime lens? I heard those are better but then I cant zoom in right? I really just want the best all-around thing so I dont have to worry about it during my trip. Is there a specific one that everyone uses for this camera? I saw some lenses that cost like 3000 dollars and there is no way I can afford that right now... help...

So I've been shooting with the Lumix 85mm f1.8 for a while now on my SL2 and honestly im just so over it. I mean it works fine for basic stuff but I feel like I spent all this money on a Leica body just to get photos that look like they came off a cheap Sony. There is just zero character in the glass and its driving me crazy. I had a client last week literally ask why the background looked busy and I just stood there like... well its the lens. I'm doing this big bridal editorial out in the Hamptons in about three weeks and I cannot show up with this setup again. I need that actual Leica look, that creamy fall-off everyone talks about but I'm looking at the prices and my head is spinning.

So I was thinking maybe the 50mm Summilux? But then I worry it's not long enough for the tight headshots they want. My logic was that a 50 is versatile but for pro portraits maybe the 75mm or the 90mm Summicron is the move. But then I read some guy on a blog saying the 90mm APO is too sharp? Like it shows every single pore and then I have to spend five hours in retouching which I do NOT have time for. I have a budget of about 5500 bucks maybe 6k if I stretch it but that's it. I looked at the Sigma 85mm Art too but I'm worried it's gonna have that same clinical vibe as the Lumix. I just want that Leica glow or whatever you call it without it being a total pain to autofocus because I move around a lot during shoots.

I'm just stuck between the 75mm and the 90mm APO-Summicrons mostly. Is the 75 too close to 50? Is the 90 too long for indoor studio stuff? I mostly shoot outdoors but we have some indoor prep shots too. I'm just so frustrated because every review says something different and I dont want to drop five grand on a lens just to feel the same way I do now. Is the 50mm Lux really the king for portraits or am I overthinking the focal length thing...

I looked at B&H and Adorama but their bundles just look like the regular body price plus the lens added together... it isnt really a deal. I saw a few threads saying to check for unadvertised kits at local shops, but my local store is tiny and has zero stock. Does anyone know a reputable site that has a legit bundle discount where I actually save money on glass if I buy the body? My budget is capped at 2600 and I'm panicking...

So I just got this new Canon R7 camera because a guy at the store told me it was the best one for taking pictures of birds and stuff but honestly I'm so lost. I live right near the Everglades in Florida and there are always these cool herons and big iguanas in my yard but when I try to use the lens that came with the camera they just look like tiny little dots on the screen. I think it's called a kit lens? It says 18-150 on it if that helps.

I want to get closer but I dont really understand all the numbers people talk about like f-stops or mm stuff. I have about 900 dollars saved up from my birthday to buy a better lens but there are so many options online and some of them are like five thousand dollars which is crazy. Is there something that won't break the bank but will let me see the feathers on a bird from across the canal? Do I need a special plug or adapter for the R7?

Sorry if these are really basic questions I literally just opened the box yesterday and I'm already kind of overwhelmed by all the buttons. What is the best lens for someone like me who just wants to see some cool wildlife?
