So I just got this Canon EOS 90D and its my first real camera so please go easy on me if I sound like a total idiot lol. I want to take photos of birds in my backyard and maybe some animals when I go to Yellowstone next month but the lens it came with just doesnt zoom in close enough at all. I keep seeing the word telephoto but I dont really know what I should be looking for or what brands are even good. My budget is probably around 500 bucks because the camera was already super expensive.

  • I need something that can see far away
  • I dont want it to be too heavy if possible

What lens should I actually get that fits this specific camera?

Unfortunately, 500 bucks is a tough limit. I had issues with reach on the Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS STM, whereas a used Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS II USM actually tracks birds properly.
