My sisters wedding is literally next weekend and I realized my kit lens just isnt gonna cut it for the ceremony since Ill be sitting way in the back. Im on a super tight budget like 150-180 dollars max and I need something fast.

Im looking at the Nikon AF-P 70-300mm f/4.5-6.3G ED VR or maybe the older 55-200mm VR II because its way cheaper. I saw a used Tamron 70-300 on marketplace too but Ive heard the autofocus is kinda slow. Which one is gonna give me the sharpest shots without breaking the bank? I gotta order tonight to get it in time...

Building on the earlier suggestion, Nikon AF-P DX NIKKOR 70-300mm f/4.5-6.3G ED VR is the winner. Over the years I've found it:

I am late to this but definitely agree that the Nikon AF-P DX NIKKOR 70-300mm f/4.5-6.3G ED VR is the only way to go for sharpness. Unfortunately, f/6.3 is painfully slow for indoor weddings. I have had issues with mine hunting for focus in dim church lighting and it was honestly pretty disappointing. Real talk tho... check your camera compatibility before you buy. If you are on an older body like a Nikon D3200 or Nikon D5100, that AF-P lens basically wont work. Its a total dealbreaker. If your body is too old, you might have to settle for the Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 55-200mm f/4-5.6G ED VR II. It is not as good as expected compared to the 70-300, but at least it works with every DX body. Just try to find a steady ledge to lean on because that aperture is gonna make things dark.

I used one years ago and the focus was fairly loud... you dont want a grinding noise during the vows. The newer pulse motor tech is a decent option here. I used it for a school play and it stayed locked on without making a peep. Its much more reliable for a big day.
