Honestly I'm just about done with my current setup. I've been trying to get some decent shots of my kids with the kit lens that came with my Nikon D7500 and I am just so fed up with how flat and soft everything looks... its like no matter what I do with the settings the background just wont blur out properly and everything looks kinda muddy? I have my daughters high school graduation coming up in three weeks and I really dont want to ruin the photos because I was being cheap with glass. I've been looking at some primes because everyone says they're sharper but I'm getting so overwhelmed with the options. Do I go for the 35mm or the 50mm or is the 85mm better for portraits? I've heard the 85 is the king but I'm worried it might be too zoomed in for indoor stuff.

My constraints are:

Budget is strictly under $550 because thats all I saved up

Needs to be fast enough for lower light since the ceremony is indoors

Must work well on a crop sensor (DX)

I need it delivered to me here in Chicago by next weekend so I can practice

I really just want that professional look where the subject pops out and the background is buttery smooth. Is the Nikon 50mm f/1.8G enough or should I be looking at Sigma Art series or something else entirely? I dont want to waste more money on stuff that doesnt perform...

Im in a bit of a panic honestly. I have a job shooting a new yoga studio interior next Friday here in Chicago and I just realized my current setup is totally failing me. Ive been using the 24-105mm on my S5II but even at 24mm the rooms look tiny and cramped and its just not giving that professional architectural feel the client wants. I spent way too much on the camera body and now my bank account is looking pretty sad so I need something wide but cheap.

Ive spent the last three hours looking at reviews and Im just more confused now. I keep seeing the Sigma 16-28mm f2.8 mentioned as the go-to but its nearly a grand brand new and I just cant swing that right now. Then theres the Lumix 20-60mm kit lens which is super cheap used on eBay, but is f3.5-5.6 actually going to hold up indoors? The studio has decent natural light but Im worried about the corners being soft or it just looking like a kit lens photo if that makes sense. I also saw the Lumix 18mm f1.8 prime which fits the budget better but I read some people complaining about the distortion correction being digital-only and Im worried about the straight lines on the walls looking like wet noodles.

I need to pull the trigger on something by tomorrow so it gets here in time. Here is what Im looking for:

Budget: strictly under $600 (willing to go used if I can find it)

Mount: L-mount obviously

Usage: interior architecture so I need straight lines

Speed: fast enough for indoor handheld if I have to

Wide: definitely wider than 24mm

Are there any hidden gems Im missing? Maybe some manual focus Chinese lenses like Laowa or something? I dont mind manual if the glass is sharp enough but Ive never used them on the L-mount before. Does anyone have experience with the 20-60 vs a dedicated wide prime for professional-ish work? Im desperate...

I finally pulled the trigger and got a used Nikon Z6 because I've heard such good things about the photos it takes but honestly I am so lost right now. I'm going on a trip to Kyoto and Tokyo in like three weeks and I'm super excited to take some actual good pictures for once instead of just using my phone but looking at all these lens options is making my head spin. I dont really understand what the numbers mean like the f/4 vs f/2.8 or what 24-70 vs 24-120 even does in real life. I only have about 700 bucks left in my budget for a lens so I really just need one thing that can do everything like buildings and people and maybe some food shots too. I really dont want to be that person swapping lenses every five minutes on the street because I'll probably drop something or get dust in the camera body which scares me. Is there like one goldilocks lens that stays on the camera all the time and just works for everything? Sorry if this is a totally newbie question I just have no idea where to even start with the Z mount stuff... what would you guys buy if you could only pick one?

I bought the a7III thinking it would be a dream but the 28-70 kit lens is just... ugh. Its so soft and the aperture is basically useless as soon as the sun starts to go down. Im getting ready for a big road trip to Oregon in about two weeks and I really dont want to be fumbling with lens caps in the rain or carrying a giant backpack full of glass. I just want one goldilocks lens that can stay on the camera 90% of the time and actually give me sharp shots.

Here is what im looking for:

Budget is around $1200 max, id prefer to spend less if possible though

Must be good in lower light since it gets moody in the PNW

Fast autofocus is a huge plus because my dog never sits still

Needs to be wide enough for landscapes but have a bit of reach

I keep seeing the Tamron 28-75 G2 mentioned but then people say the Sigma 24-70 is better but its heavier? Im just so confused and annoyed at this point lol. Is there a holy grail lens for this camera that doesnt cost three grand or weigh five pounds...

So I finally pulled the trigger on a Canon R6 after years of shooting on an old 80D but now I am totally stuck on what glass to actually get for it. I am leaving for a big trip to Tokyo in like three weeks and I really need just one solid lens that can stay on the camera the whole time. I looked at the 24-105mm f/4L since everyone says it is the ultimate travel lens but then I saw a bunch of people online saying that f/4 is basically useless once the sun goes down or if you are inside a restaurant. Then I looked at the 24-70mm f/2.8 but honestly it is way out of my budget and looks heavy as hell to carry around all day.

Heres what I am looking for:

Budget is around $1300 maybe a bit more if I go used

Needs to be good for low light street shots and family stuff

Not too massive because I will be walking like 10 miles a day

Sharpness is key because I want to print some of these for the wall

I am super torn because if I go with the f/4 am I gonna regret not having that extra stop of light for night markets? But if I go with something shorter like a 35mm prime I might miss the zoom for architecture stuff. Is there some middle ground I am missing or should I just suck it up and get the 24-105? My head is spinning trying to decide before the flight...
