sorry if this is a dumb question but im completely lost and I need a zoom lens for my nikon d3500 asap because my sisters wedding is in two weeks and the kit lens just isnt cutting it for shots across the room... i went online and theres like a million options with numbers like 70-300mm and 18-55mm and my brain hurts trying to figure out what fits my budget of around 300 bucks and actually works without me having to be a professional photographer... like do i need vibration reduction or whatever... what is even the difference between sigma and nikon brand stuff... please help me pick something before the big day...

ok im at my wits end here trying to figure out glass for my new r1. i ordered it for my sports gigs and local wildlife stuff happening next month in florida, but my wallet is already crying. ive spent like three days reading reviews. some forum guys swear by the rf 400mm f2.8 but others say the 100-500mm zoom is way more flexible for running around sidelines. i mean those are two totally different price tags and use cases wtf. like do i drop the house payment on a big prime or just get the zoom? what is the best lens for canon eos r1 if im mainly shooting fast moving stuff in weird lighting...

Im so excited Im finally upgrading my old kit lens this weekend! Got about 500 bucks saved up and Im taking a trip to Yosemite next month so I really need to nail this. Ive been reading endless forum threads online all week. Half the people swear by a 24-70mm f2.8 for versatility while others say a 35mm prime forces you to be a better photographer. But my logic was that swapping lenses on a windy trail sounds like a nightmare. So I was thinking maybe an 18-140mm walkaround zoom is the safest bet? But then what about low light... Is there actually a holy grail lens that does everything without breaking the bank?

What is actually the best budget zoom lens for a Canon 80D right now? Sorry if this is a super basic question but im totally lost. I got this camera used a few months ago in Chicago and Ive just been using the kit lens that came with it. But its not cutting it anymore cuz my niece has her first soccer games coming up next month and I cant get close enough to the action from the sidelines. My budget is pretty tight

I really cant spend more than like 200 or maybe 250 bucks max since Im still learning how to even use manual mode properly. I keep seeing things about Sigma and Tamron and Canon lenses online but my head is spinning with all the numbers and letters like IS USM STM and I have no idea what any of that means for sports photography. Should I be looking for something like a 55-250mm? If someone could just tell me a specific model to look for on ebay or marketplace that wont break the bank id really appreciate it...

Im trying to figure out which prime lens is actually the best choice for my Nikon Z mirrorless setup and honestly Im getting super overwhelmed by all the choices out there. I mostly shoot street photography and some low light portraits around Chicago so Im looking for something sharp that doesnt weigh a ton. My budget is around 600 to 900 bucks max since Im trying not to break the bank before my trip next month. I looked at the Z 40mm f2 because its cheap and tiny, but then I read reviews saying the corner sharpness isnt great wide open. I also checked out the 50mm f1.8 S which everyone online calls optically insane, but honestly 50mm can feel a little tight sometimes for city stuff compared to a 35mm. Some folks on reddit swear by the viltrox or sigma third party stuff now too which just adds to the confusion. so Ive been shooting with my nikon zfc for about six months now and Im ready to finally buy a proper prime lens instead of just using the kit zoom. I mostly take street photos and random portraits of my dog around the house in seattle where lighting is honestly trash half the time lol. Ive spent like three weeks reading reviews on reddit and watching youtube videos until my brain hurts. people keep raving about the 50mm f1.8 s because apparently it is ridiculously sharp even wide open but then someone else says the 40mm f2 is better for everyday carry because it is way smaller and cheaper. I checked my lightroom stats and I mostly shoot around 35mm to 50mm equivalent anyway. my budget is around 500 bucks max since Im trying to not break the bank right before the holidays. do I just get the 50mm and deal with the crop factor or is there some hidden gem I am completely missing

Ive been shooting weddings and events for years now, mostly sticking with my trusty old a7iii, but the shutter count is getting ridiculous and I really need an a7iv upgrade before my heavy fall season kicks off in about three weeks. My logic was that prices would drop more by now since it's been out a while, but looking around online is just stressing me out. Adorama and B&H have the standard kit, but Im trying to keep my total spend around 2200 bucks if possible, maybe 2400 max if it includes a decent lens or some bundle extras. Refurbished is fine with me, hell I'd even take a open box from a reputable dealer at this point. I keep seeing sketchy grey market listings on eBay that look way too good to be true and I refuse to get burned again like I did back in 2018. ok so my trip to iceland is literally in three weeks and my head is spinning trying to figure out glass. i was originally gonna bring a bunch of primes cause thats what i usually shoot on in my studio here in chicago, but dragging a bag of four lenses through freezing wind and mud sounds like a total nightmare. i spent all last night reading old threads and watching youtube reviews, and everyone keeps raving about the tamron 35-150mm f2-2.8, but then other people say its way too heavy for all day hiking and you really just need a traditional 24-70mm like the sony gm ii. i even looked at some superzooms like the 24-240mm to save weight even though i know the image quality takes a hit. my budget is around two grand max since i just bought plane tickets. is there actually one ultimate zoom lens that can handle landscape, northern lights if im lucky, and random street stuff without killing my back, or am i chasing a unicorn here...
