honestly im about to throw my adapter out the window. i keep trying to make my old EF 16-35mm f/2.8 work with the R5 but it is just so clunky and the focus keeps hunting at the worst times. i was out at Olympic National Park last weekend and missed a total banger of a sunset because the connection felt loose and it kept losing communication with the body. i paid way too much for this R5 to be dealing with gear that feels this unreliable and heavy. i need a proper wide angle lens that actually belongs on this camera.

i have been looking at the RF 15-35mm but man it is expensive and i keep hearing mixed things about the vignetting and corner softness. then there is the 14-35mm f/4 but i worry about low light since i do some astro stuff too when the sky is clear. i really need something that can handle the rain here in the PNW because i am out in the elements all the time.

here is what i am looking for:

must be native RF mount no more adapters please i am done with them

budget is $2500 max i cannot go over that right now

weather sealing is non-negotiable i need it to survive a drizzle

sharp across the frame because i print my landscapes pretty big

fast enough for occasional milky way shots if possible

im supposed to be heading to Glacier in about three weeks for a big solo trip and i dont want to be fighting my gear the whole time. is the 15-35mm really the only pro choice or are there some primes i should be looking at instead? i saw some stuff about the 16mm prime but it looks kinda cheap and i dont think it is weather sealed or high enough quality for the 45mp sensor. i just want something that works every single time i press the shutter. what are you guys actually using for wide shots on the R5 that doesnt feel like a massive compromise...

Im honestly so fed up with my old Canon R, the autofocus keeps hunting during shoots and I missed a huge moment at a wedding last weekend which was just the last straw. I am so ready to switch to Sony but these prices are just insane everywhere I look. I have about $2200 saved up and I really need to get this sorted before my next big gig in Chicago next month. Every site I check is full price or looks like a total scam. Is there a legit discount or maybe an educator program I could use? I'm so pumped to finally have real eye-tracking but I just cant find a price that fits my budget...

I finally pulled the trigger on a used D850 and Im honestly so hyped to see what this sensor can actually do but now I am stuck on the glass. Im torn between the Sigma 35mm f/1.4 Art and the Nikon 105mm f/1.4E. My logic was that the 35mm is basically the perfect everyday focal length and everyone says the Art series is just incredible for the price but then I saw some portraits from that 105mm and my jaw literally dropped.

I have a family wedding coming up in Vermont next month and I really want that one magic lens to carry around. The 105mm is pushing my budget hard though since I can only spend about 1200 maybe 1300 if I stretch it so I might have to find a crazy deal on a used one. On the other hand the 35mm is way more affordable and maybe more versatile for the reception shots? But will I regret not getting the legendary one for that 45 megapixel sensor? Its such a beast of a camera I dont want to bottleneck it with something average.

Which one would you guys grab first if you had to pick just one to live on the body for a while? Is the 105mm really that much better or is the 35mm the smarter play for a first prime...

Can anyone suggest a wide-angle lens for my Leica SL2-S that doesnt cost like five thousand dollars? I feel really silly even asking this because I know this brand is super high-end but I got the camera as a hand-me-down from my uncle and I'm honestly a total beginner. I want to take some cool pictures of buildings and the desert when I go to Zion National Park next month but the lens I have now is a 50mm and it just feels too zoomed in for big landscapes.

My budget is pretty tight since I'm still a student so I'm looking for something under $700 if thats even a thing for these cameras. I keep seeing people mention L-mount and then something about adapters for M-mount and I am just completely lost on what actually fits. Do I have to buy a Leica brand lens or can I use other ones? I saw some stuff by Sigma and Panasonic but I dont want to buy something that breaks the camera or doesnt work right.

needs to be wide for mountains and architecture

hopefully not too heavy to carry on a hike

under $700 if possible

Sorry if this is a really basic question I just have no idea where to start with all these different mounts and names...

So I just got the Fujifilm X-S20 last week and honestly I have no idea what I am doing lol. Its my first real camera after just using my iPhone for years and I am super overwhelmed by all the buttons and settings. I currently have the lens that came in the box—the 18-55 one I think? It takes okay pictures but I see all these photos online with that really pretty blurry background look and mine just look kinda flat. Someone told me I need a prime lens but I dont really get what that means... like you cant zoom at all? That sounds kind of annoying to be honest but people say the quality is way better so I want to try it out.

I am going on a big trip to Tokyo next month and I really want to get some good shots of the streets at night and maybe some portraits of my girlfriend but I dont want to be carrying a massive bag of gear around. My budget is probably around 400 or maybe 500 dollars if I stretch it but I'd rather stay lower if possible since the camera was already so expensive. I live in a pretty rainy area too so maybe something that wont break if it gets a tiny bit wet? Or maybe that doesnt matter for a beginner.

I was looking at the 35mm one because people say thats normal but then there is a 23mm and a 50mm and I am just staring at the numbers and getting a total headache. Is 35mm too zoomed in for street stuff? I just want one lens that I can leave on the camera most of the time that makes the photos look professional you know? Sorry if this is a really basic question I just feel like I am drowning in all the options and dont want to waste money on something I wont use. Which prime lens should I actually get for this camera if I just want that one perfect all rounder...

So I've been using Canon gear since the 5D Mark II days and I thought I knew what I was doing but this R7 is throwing me for a loop. I bought the body for the 1.6 crop reach specifically for birds and bears but my old EF 100-400mm L (the mark i version yeah i know its old) is just not keeping up with the dual pixel AF or something. It keeps pulsing and missing focus right when a hawk dives and I'm honestly about to pull my hair out. I have a trip to Yellowstone in exactly 19 days and I cannot go with gear that's acting this flaky. I need something native RF I think or maybe a newer EF that actually plays nice with the adapter.

I'm trying to decide between a few options and the reviews online are all over the place. Some people say the RF 100-500 is the gold standard but man that price tag hurts. Others say the 200-800 is a beast but I'm worried about the weight for hiking. I'm an experienced shooter but this mirrorless transition is trickier than I expected with the lens compatibility issues especially with the high pixel density on this sensor. If the glass isn't perfect the sensor just shows every single flaw its frustrating.

Here is what I'm looking for:

Budget is $2500 max including tax if possible

Must be sharp enough for the R7 high megapixel sensor (32mp is demanding)

Fast AF is non-negotiable for birds in flight

Lightweight enough for 5-7 mile hikes

I've looked at the RF 100-400 too but f/8 at the long end feels like it might be too slow for those early morning grizzly sightings in the valley. Does anyone have real world experience with these on the R7? I'm worried about the ISO noise if I go too slow on the glass but the 100-500 is like $2800 now which is pushing it way past my limit. Should I just bite the bullet and get the 100-500 or is there a better middle ground I'm missing like a used EF 400mm DO ii or something? I really need to get this ordered by Monday so it gets here in time to test it before the flight out...

I'm in a bit of a rush here because I have a big wedding shoot coming up in Portland in exactly two weeks and I'm realizing my current lens lineup for the X-H2S is seriously lacking in the portrait department. I've mostly been a landscape guy but I took this gig for a friend and now I'm stressing out about the low light situation in the venue which is this old dark brick building. I need something that gives me that professional blurry background look but I can't decide what actually works best with the newer autofocus system on this camera. My budget is pretty firm around $1200 although I could maybe go a bit higher if it's a lens I'm gonna keep forever and not just for this one job.

I've done a ton of reading online but the opinions are all over the place and it's making my head spin. Here's what I've looked at so far:

Fujifilm 56mm f1.2 R WR

Fujifilm 90mm f2 LM WR

Viltrox 75mm f1.2

The main thing I'm stuck on is that people keep saying the 56mm is slow to focus and noisy even though the new WR version is supposed to be better but then others say the X-H2S makes any lens fast so I don't know who to believe. I'm scared the 90mm is gonna be too long for the indoor reception and I'll be backing into walls trying to get a full body shot. Then there's the Viltrox which is cheap but is it actually reliable enough for a wedding where I only get one shot at the kiss? I've heard some stuff about third party lenses having weird connection issues sometimes.

I really need to get this ordered by the end of the weekend so it arrives in time for me to practice with it before the 15th. Is the 56mm WR actually fast enough for tracking people moving around on a dance floor with the H2S or am I better off getting something with a linear motor like the 90mm or even the 33mm f1.4? Or am I totally overthinking the autofocus speed issues because of the stacked sensor in my body...
