honestly so done with this kit lens that came with my a7iii. I thought it would be fine for a while but the 28-70mm is just so soft and the aperture is a joke once you start zooming in even a little bit. I spent almost all my savings on the body and now I feel like I am stuck with a expensive paperweight because I cant afford those $2000 G-Master lenses everyone keeps talking about online. Its just frustrating.

I am supposed to be shooting this small indie music festival here in Portland next month and I need something that actually has some decent reach without losing all the light or getting all that grain. I have been looking at Tamron and Sigma stuff but there are so many versions of the 28-75 or the 28-200 and my head is spinning trying to figure out which one is actually worth the money or if I should just give up and buy a couple cheap primes instead. I really dont want to be swapping lenses in a crowded muddy field though so a zoom is a must.

What are the actual best budget zoom options for the Sony alpha series right now that wont make me go broke but actually perform well in real life? My budget is strictly under $600 and I am fine with used gear if it works...

Man, that kit lens is a total letdown, unfortunately. I had major issues with the corner sharpness on mine too. If you're stuck under $600, you gotta buy used gear.
