Ive been shooting with the R6 for about two years now and Im finally ready to ditch my old adapted EF glass for something native. I mostly do landscape stuff out here in Oregon but Ive got a gig doing some interior shots for a buddys rental next month and my 24-105 just isnt cutting it for those tight corners. I was looking at the RF 14-35mm f/4 L because of the reach but then I saw the 15-35mm f/2.8 and now Im second guessing if I need that extra stop of light for handholding indoors. Budget is around 1800 bucks so I cant really get both lol. Is the distortion on the 14-35 really as bad as people say or should I just suck it up and go for the faster glass?

I spent hours reading and everyone keeps pointing to the 27mm f2.8 pancake because it's so tiny and keeps it pocketable but then I saw some videos where the autofocus sounds super clunky and slow which is honestly scary for fast street shots.

I also looked at the 23mm f2 fujicron but I'm worried itll make the whole setup feel front-heavy or just lose that stealthy vibe I bought the E4 for. My budget is around $450 max and I just want something discrete... which one would you guys choose for street?

Sorry if this is a super basic question but I just bought this camera and its way more complicated than I thought it would be lol. I'm going on a trip to Iceland in like three weeks and I really want to take those wide mountain shots and waterfall pictures.

I have about 2000 dollars left to spend on a lens but I have no idea what the numbers mean like 15-35mm vs 24-70mm or what f/2.8 is. I just want something that makes the scenery look huge and sharp. Do I need a zoom thing or just one lens? I keep reading about RF lenses vs EF but I dont want to carry a bunch of stuff. Help me out...

Been rocking my old Rebel T6 for way too long now and honestly the noise at ISO 800 is just killing me lately. I finally saved up about $1500 for a proper mirrorless setup and I'm trying to time it right with Black Friday coming up. Im mostly shooting street stuff and some local hiking trails here in Oregon where it's basically always gray and dim so I need something that can handle it.

Right now Im torn between the EOS R8 and the R7. The R8 is full frame which sounds amazing for the low light stuff I deal with but that tiny battery scares me a bit and I've heard the weather sealing isnt the best for our rain. Then there's the R7 which has the dual slots and better IBIS but its a crop sensor. I saw a bundle on B&H for the R8 with the 24-50mm lens for like $1300 but I'm wondering if I should hold out for a better body-only deal so I can grab a better prime lens instead.

Do you guys think the prices are gonna drop even more on actual Black Friday or are these early deals usually as good as it gets for Canon gear? I really dont want to miss out if the stock runs low but I also dont wanna kick myself if it drops another $200 next week...

I feel so stupid for asking this but I just bought a Canon R6 and I didn't realize it wouldn't just come with a lens that does everything. My brother told me it was a pro camera so I saved up for months to get it but now I'm staring at it and I have no actual idea what to buy next. I have a big family trip to the Grand Canyon coming up in about two weeks and I really want to take good pictures of the scenery but also my kids and I'm just panicking a little bit because I don't want to ruin the memories by having the wrong gear.

My budget is really tight now because the camera was so expensive so I can probably only spend like 800 or 900 dollars max which I know might be low for this stuff. I see all these numbers like 24-105 or 50mm and f/4 or f/2.8 and it just makes my head spin honestly. I just want one lens that can stay on the camera all the time because I'm terrified of getting dust inside the hole if I swap them out too much.

I think I need something that can do:

landscape shots of the canyon

clear pictures of my kids

maybe some zoom if we see animals

Is there like a best all-around lens that covers everything for a beginner? Someone mentioned an adapter thing but that sounds way too complicated for me. I just need something simple that works...

My logic was the RF 100-400 would be plenty since its so light for hiking the trails here in Oregon but man that f/8 aperture is just killing me in the woods. Every single hawk shot from this morning is just a blurry mess of noise and I am ready to toss this lens in the lake. I was looking at the RF 200-800 but its sold out everywhere and way over my $1600 limit anyway. Should I just get an adapted EF 100-400 II or is there something better I am missing? I need to get this sorted before my trip next week...

I've been shooting on my D7500 for like four years now and I thought I had my kit mostly figured out for what I do, but man, I am hitting a wall with this portrait stuff lately. My sister is graduating next month and she wants me to do some professional looking shots in the local park but everything I have is just... wrong? Like, I use the 35mm f/1.8G for basically everything and it's a great little lens but for actual headshots it just feels weirdly wide and I hate how much I have to crowd her space to get a tight frame. Plus the distortion is driving me crazy if I get too close.

I tried using my old 18-140mm zoom just to see if the compression helped but the aperture is so small that I'm getting zero background separation even at 85mm. It looks like a glorified cell phone pic. I know the 85mm f/1.8G is the gold standard but I just checked the prices and even used ones are pushing way past what I can afford right now after having to fix the transmission on my car last week. I literally have maybe $250, maybe $300 tops if I skip lunch for a week.

Heres what I've tried or looked at so far:

The 35mm 1.8 which makes noses look huge up close

The kit zoom which is just way too slow at f/5.6 for that blurry background look

Borrowing a friends old manual 50mm which was a nightmare to focus on a moving person

I looked at some of those weird third-party lenses like the Yongnuo or the Samyang stuff but I'm worried the quality is gonna be garbage or the autofocus will hunt forever and I'll miss the shot. Is there anything else out there that actually works for DX sensors without costing a mortgage payment? I need that sweet spot where I can actually get some decent bokeh and not make her face look stretched out. What is the best budget portrait lens for Nikon DX cameras that wont break the bank right now?
