Unfortunately, relying on a refurb or a sale that might not happen before your shoot is risky. Ive had issues with stock being sold out for months on end. You should probably look at these instead:

> Unfortunately, relying on a refurb or a sale that might not happen before your shoot is risky. Building on that earlier suggestion, buying gear right before a big gig is usually asking for trouble. Over the years, I've seen brand new shutters fail mid-reception, and it was a total nightmare. In my experience, grabbing the Fujifilm X-S20 26.1MP Digital Camera is a safer bet for your budget. It leaves room for a SanDisk Extreme PRO 128GB SDXC UHS-II too. Reliability matters way more than resolution when you're on the clock.

Seriously, finding the Fujifilm X-T5 40.2MP Mirrorless Camera for under $1600 brand new is basically impossible right now! This body is fantastic for weddings and the colors are amazing. I used it for a beach ceremony last month and the autofocus was just stellar!

Regarding what #3 said about "> Unfortunately, relying on a refurb or a..."

  • I totally agree. I learned the hard way once when I bought a discounted body right before a portrait session and it arrived with a wonky sensor. It was a total disaster and I almost lost the client because I didn't have a backup. Honestly, if you're hunting for a deal under $1600 for the Fujifilm X-T5 Mirrorless Digital Camera, its gonna be tough right now. You might want to consider these points for your wedding shoot:
  • Check MPB Used Photography Equipment for their Like New stock. I have seen the body dip to about $1575 there occasionally and they actually verify the gear.
  • Be careful with those International Version listings you see on eBay. They look like a steal but Fuji USA wont touch them for repairs if something goes wrong, which is a huge risk for professional work.
  • Make sure to budget for fast media like the Lexar Professional 1800x 128GB SDXC UHS-II. Those 40MP files are massive and slow cards will make the camera buffer right when you need to be firing off shots. I would suggest calling some smaller local photo shops too. Sometimes they have an open box unit from a return that isnt listed on their site yet. Just be really cautious about checking the shutter count before you commit to anything used tho...

Caught this thread a bit late but i really want to help you out! Before I give you my full tech breakdown, what glass are you already shooting with? Like are you deep in the X-mount ecosystem or are you open to switching brands entirely if the price is right? If you absolutely need that 40.2MP sensor for the wedding, the Fujifilm X-T50 Mirrorless Digital Camera is honestly a sleeper hit. It has the same internal guts as the X-T5 but sits way closer to your 1600 budget!
