HD PENTAX-FA 50mm F1.4 and SMC PENTAX-FA 50mmF1.4 Classic Lens Officially Announced

Ricoh has just officially announced HD PENTAX-FA 50mm F1.4 and SMC PENTAX-FA 50mmF1.4 Classic Lens. Both lenses have the same 50mm focal length (76.5mm equivalent on APS-C bodies), F1.4-22 aperture range and are based on a 1991 film version of the smc Pentax-FA 50mm F1.4 lens. They share the same minimum focus distance (.45m), the same eight rounded diaphragm blades, and both have a water- and grease-repellent coating on their front elements. Continue reading

Pentax HD-DA 16-50mm f/2.8 ED PLM AW Lens Announced, Priced $1,399.95, Available for Pre-Order

Ricoh has just officially announced the new HD Pentax-DA* 16-50mm F2.8 ED PLM AW lens. It is a premium wide-angle zoom for the company’s APS-C bodies, featuring ED and anomalous glass elements as well as an HD coating to reduce flare and ghosting. The lens uses a “PLM” pulse motor to drive the focus group. The minimum focus distance is 30cm, with a max magnification of 0.24x. The lens features a “quick shift” system to quickly switch between auto and manual focus.

Pentax HD Pentax-FA 77mm F1.8 Limited Lens Announced, Priced $799.95, Available for Pre-Order

Pentax has just officially announced the new Pentax HD Pentax-FA 77mm f/1.8 Limited lens. It is an updated version of the ‘smc’ version of this ultra-compact lens, which was released in 1999. It has an ‘HD’ coating to reduce flare and ghosting, and fully rounded aperture blades. The lens has a minimum focus distance of 70cm (27.6″) and a max magnification of 0.14x.
