I have been staring at my screen for three hours straight refreshing every single camera site I know and honestly I am about to lose it. I am trying to finally upgrade from my crusty old X-T2 before my sisters wedding in December but these prices just wont budge. I am up in Chicago and all the local shops are sticking to the $1,699 MSRP which is just out of my reach since I am really hoping to stay under $1,500 for the body.

I did some digging and found a couple of things online but they were basically useless. Like I saw these bundles on Amazon and Adorama that say Sale but they just throw in a cheap tripod and a slow SD card for the normal price... it is so annoying. Then I found one site listing it for $1,450 but it looked totally sketchy like a gray market import with zero US warranty so I dont want to risk that. I read some people saying Fuji usually only does lens rebates this time of year but then others are saying a body discount is coming any second. Is anyone actually seeing real discounts on the X-T5 body specifically or is this just gonna be one of those years where they ignore it because its still popular?

Honestly, I am in the exact same boat and I have been watching the Fujifilm X-T5 Mirrorless Camera Body Black pricing like a hawk! It is such an amazing camera and that 40MP sensor is absolutely fantastic for weddings because you can crop in so much during a ceremony. To be totally direct, Fujifilm is incredibly strict with their Minimum Advertised Price (MAP) policies, so finding a brand new unit under $1,500 at an authorized dealer is basically impossible right now because the demand is still so high! If you really want to hit that sub-$1,500 budget before your sisters wedding, here is the methodical strategy I recommend for getting a deal:

  • Monitor the Open Box sections at major authorized retailers like B&H or Adorama. These units are often pristine and come with the full manufacturer warranty but usually at a $150 or $200 discount.
  • Check the used inventory on reputable sites like MPB or KEH. You can frequently find an Excellent condition Fujifilm X-T5 Mirrorless Camera Body Silver for around $1,475 right now.
  • Refresh the official Fujifilm Refurbished store page every single morning. They offer some of the best prices on the planet for certified gear that looks brand new. I love my X-T5 and the autofocus performance is a massive jump over your X-T2, especially for tracking people moving down the aisle! Tbh, it is totally worth the extra effort to find a deal because this camera is going to last you for years. Just definitely avoid those sketchy gray market sites because the lack of a US warranty is just a disaster waiting to happen if the sensor has an issue!

Re: "^ This. Also, be careful with those sketchy..." - definitely listen to that. Grey market is a total headache for repairs. Since the T5 price is stubborn, maybe consider these:

  • Fujifilm X-T4 Body Black - pros: save $400 and still get 6.5 stops IBIS. cons: 26MP sensor.
  • Fujifilm X-S20 Body - pros: same X-Processor 5 and better battery life. cons: articulating screen. If 40MP isnt a dealbreaker, these are way safer for your budget.

^ This. Also, be careful with those sketchy sites since zero warranty is basically a gamble. I would suggest checking B&H for their EDU discount program if you still have a student email... it saved me a ton last year.
