Is the Z 24-120mm f/4 actually the king of all-around lenses, or am I missing something better? Ive been shooting with primes for years but my back is killing me after hiking around the Alps last week. I need one sharp, reliable zoom for travel that doesnt weigh a ton. Budget is around 1200 bucks. Is there anything sharper?

Honestly, the Nikon NIKKOR Z 24-120mm f/4 S is basically the gold standard for travel. I took it on a long trek last year and the sharpness across the frame is just wild. It handles everything without needing a bag full of glass. You wont find anything better for that price point, especially if you snag it used. Honestly, its the only lens you really need if you want to save your back and some cash.
