What's the best lens for a Nikon Z5 if I only want to carry one single thing for a whole trip? I'm heading to Italy next week for my sisters wedding and then a big tour and I'm totally overwhelmed. The guy at the store said the kit lens is okay but I need something better for all-around use and I have no idea what that means. I have about $900 max and I need to order it today so it arrives before my flight. Do I need a big zoom or something else? I'm scared of changing lenses in public and getting dirt in the camera. Sorry if this is a dumb question I just dont know where to start...

For your Z5, there is literally only one lens you should be looking at for a trip like this. Get the Nikon NIKKOR Z 24-200mm f/4-6.3 VR immediately! It is the absolute king of travel lenses. You get 24mm which is wide enough for those narrow Italian alleys and 200mm for zooming into the wedding ceremony without moving a muscle. It is surprisingly sharp for a superzoom and fits your budget perfectly! Plus its got decent weather sealing so you dont have to worry about dust or light rain. If you want pro-level glass but a bit less zoom range, the Nikon NIKKOR Z 24-120mm f/4 S is incredible but usually runs closer to $1,100 new... might be over budget unless you find a sale. Seriously tho, the 24-200 is the best one-and-done setup for a Z5. Grab it now!

Agree that a versatile zoom is the best way to go. Having one lens that does it all is a total lifesaver when youre traveling.

  • keeps the camera light
  • avoids sensor dust
  • covers everything The extra reach helps a ton with candid wedding shots too. Definitely less stress!
