What is the sharpest landscape lens for Nikon DSLR bodies?

honestly im just about ready to throw my current setup out the window because my landscape shots look like trash lately. i’ve been using the 24-120mm kit lens on my d850 and i just cant get over how soft the corners are even stopped down to f/8 or f/11 which makes no sense for a pro body. it is so frustrating to spend hours hiking to a spot only to come home and see that nothing is actually crisp. my logic was that a zoom would be easier for the trail but clearly im losing way too much quality for that convenience.

i really need something that is actually sharp corner to corner because i have a big trip to glacier national park coming up next month and i refuse to come back with more blurry mountains. budget is around 1400 bucks maybe a little more if i sell some stuff. i was looking at the 14-24mm but i keep reading about flare issues and that giant bulbous front element scares me for hiking.

then i thought maybe a prime is better? is the 20mm f/1.8g actually sharp enough or do i need to be looking at something crazy like the zeiss milvus or even a tamron prime? honestly just want the absolute sharpest glass possible for a nikon dslr mount before i lose my mind...

@Reply #1 - good point! Agree, but check out the Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 24mm f/1.8G ED. Its fantastic, cheap, and fits normal filters so your glass stays safe while hiking!

Agree, unfortunately that zoom's resolution is underwhelming. I had issues with corner smearing too. The Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 20mm f/1.8G ED helps, but technically the Zeiss Milvus 21mm f/2.8 ZF.2 is sharper.
