Jim Fisher has just posted a full review of the newly released Fujifilm XF 18-120mm F4 LM PZ WR lens (Amazon/ B&H/ Adorama) at the PCMAG.

He tested this new lens on Fujifilm X-H2 and found such pros: Three types of power zoom control, Dust, splash, and anti-smudge fluorine protection, Quick, quiet autofocus, No visible focus breathing and Snappy linear focus motors.

• The zoom is electric and is of a higher grade than the power zoom of the XV15-45mm PZ. The controls are clearly geared towards video, and the zoom ring requires a lot of rotation to zoom, so as a photographer accustomed to mechanical zooms, I found it difficult to get used to.
  The zoom/focus control ring is slightly easier to use than the zoom ring, as the zoom speed changes depending on the angle of rotation of the ring.
• This lens is not completely parfocal, and the focal position changes when zooming. The video will be out of focus when zooming, so you’ll need to manually focus as you zoom or use AF-C.
  Image size does not change with focusing, and no focus breathing is observed.
• The AF is quiet and responsive, but the zoom motor makes a noise, so be careful when recording with the camera’s microphone. The zooming sound is audible when recording in a quiet location such as a studio.
• The maximum shooting magnification is 1:5, which is about the same as other standard zooms, although you can’t get very close.
• There is no camera shake correction, and some kind of camera shake countermeasure is required to shoot video handheld. This lens is designed for gimbals and some Fuji cameras have IBIS.
• There is no aperture ring on this lens, so you have to set the aperture on the camera side.
