I'm honestly getting so fed up with my current lens setup. My R5 Mark II just arrived and I've been trying to make the old 24-105mm f4 work but the low light performance is just killing me during my indoor event shoots here in Seattle. My logic was that the stabilization would help but it really doesnt when people are moving around.
So I was thinking maybe the 28-70 f2? But then I realized that thing is a literal brick and I cant imagine hiking with it during my Japan trip next month. I've got about $2800 saved up and I just need one lens that does it all without being a massive pain. Is the 24-70 f2.8 the only real answer or am I missing something better...
I've been shooting Canon for decades and went through this struggle. After trying the Canon RF 28-70mm F2L USM at an event, my back was screaming... its just a total beast to carry. I eventually landed on the Canon RF 24-70mm F2.8L IS USM and it works so well. It handles low-light ceremonies easily without that f4s nasty grain. TL;DR: The Canon RF 24-70mm F2.8L IS USM is the perfect balance for weight and speed.
