What prime lens should I pick up for street photography on my Canon 90D? I need to figure this out fast because I have a trip to Chicago coming up in about two weeks and I feel like my current kit lens is just not cutting it for the vibe I want.

I have been doing a bunch of reading online and I keep seeing the Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 STM recommended everywhere because its super cheap and sharp. But then I see people complaining that on a crop sensor body like the 90D, it ends up being way too tight for street stuff where you dont always have room to back up. I also looked into the 35mm f/2 IS USM which sounds amazing but its honestly pushing the top of my budget right now. I dont really want to spend more than 400 bucks if I can help it.

My main struggle is that I want something that isnt going to make me look like a total stalker with a massive piece of glass stuck to my face. I really like those candid, raw shots where people dont notice you, but with the 90D being a bit chunkier than a mirrorless, it already feels kinda obvious when I pull it out. Is the 24mm pancake lens even worth considering, or is the image quality just not gonna hold up for what I need?

Im feeling pretty stressed about making the wrong call before I fly out. I mostly shoot during the day but sometimes I like messing around at dusk too. Does anyone here actually use a prime on the 90D for street work, or should I just suck it up and go for the 35mm even if it means eating ramen for the next month...

Skip the 35mm. The Canon EF-S 24mm f/2.8 STM Pancake is honestly perfect for street because it keeps the 90D low profile and super sharp for the price.
