Ive been staring at my 90D for two hours and Im honestly so annoyed right now. I have this big trip to Chicago next Friday and I still havent picked a prime lens because every forum says something different. I looked at the EF 50mm f/1.8 because its cheap but then people are saying on a crop sensor like mine it acts like an 80mm which is way too zoomed in for street stuff? Then I saw the 35mm f/2 IS USM but thats pushing my $400 budget and some say its not even worth it over the cheap one. I just want one lens that stays on the camera for the whole weekend. Does the 35mm actually feel natural for walking around or am I gonna be constantly backing up into traffic trying to fit a building in the frame?
What're you mainly shooting? Honestly I used the Canon EF 35mm f/2 IS USM for travel and had no complaints.
- Check used listings.
- Pack light.
TL;DR: Grab the Canon EF-S 24mm f/2.8 STM! It is super reliable and way better for city shots!
- Field of view: 24mm is way safer for tight streets
- Price: Easily fits your budget
- Performance: STM focus is fantastic Honestly, the 35mm is amazing, but you wont struggle with the 24mm! That lens is definitely the most reliable choice for Chicago travel!
