So I've been trying to get into photography because my phone just isnt cutting it for pictures of my golden retriever who never sits still and we are going on a big trip to Florida next month so I really want a real camera. Everyone keeps saying to get a Sony alpha but honestly looking at the website is so confusing there are like fifty different models and I dont really understand the difference between the a7 and the a6000 series they all look the same to me lol. My budget is pretty tight like maybe 900 bucks tops including a lens if that is even possible? I checked Best Buy and everything was way over that or just the body alone was more than my whole budget. I am kind of a complete newbie at this and I have no idea where to even start looking for a bargain without getting scammed on ebay or something. Are there specific sites that have like seasonal sales or maybe reliable used stuff that wont break after a week? I feel like I am missing some secret website that everyone else knows about because these prices are wild... where are you guys finding the best discounts for these cameras?
Honestly the naming system is a total mess lol. If you're on a 900 buck budget stay away from the a7 series because those are full frame and the lenses will bankrupt you. Ive had great luck buying used from MPB. They actually inspect everything so you dont get a brick in the mail like on ebay. Im super satisfied with my Sony Alpha a6400 Mirrorless Camera Body and it works well for fast moving subjects like your dog. You can usually find it used for around 600 or 700. Toss on a Sony E 16-50mm f/3.5-5.6 OSS Lens and you've got a killer setup for Florida with money left over for treats for the golden retriever. No complaints from me after two years of using that combo... it just works.
