Ive been shooting with an a7III since it launched and its been my workhorse for years. I know my way around the E-mount system and Ive got a decent collection of GM glass but my old body is finally starting to show its age and the IBIS is acting weird lately. I decided its finally time to upgrade to an a7R IV or maybe even a V if I find a crazy deal.
The thing is I used to always swear by MPB or KEH because they were reliable but lately their prices seem way higher than they used to be like they arent even discounting for high shutter counts anymore. I checked Fred Miranda too but the listings go so fast there you practically have to be refreshing the page every ten seconds. Im based in Seattle and Ive got about $1800 saved up for the body and Im trying to get it before I head out to Glacier National Park in about three weeks so the clock is ticking.
I checked some local shops too but their trade-in markups are insane. Are there any hidden gems or specific forums Im missing where the prices are actually fair for used gear these days? Maybe some lesser known reputable sellers that dont have that massive overhead? I just want a clean sensor and a body that hasnt been used as a doorstop...
Been happy with B&H and Used Photo Pro for my gear:
- Sony Alpha a7R IV 61.0MP Mirrorless at B&H: reliable ratings.
- Used Photo Pro: better prices than KEH, works well for quick shipping.
Agreed! Jumping in to say skip the retail markups! Youll find a fantastic Sony Alpha a7R IV 61.0MP Mirrorless for under $1800 on Facebook Marketplace.
