Ive been staring at the Sony ZV-E10 for like three weeks now and honestly I am about to pull my hair out because the prices are just all over the map and it makes zero sense at all. I was looking on Amazon and the price literally jumped up by fifty bucks overnight for no reason and then I check B&H and they say its backordered for weeks which doesnt help me because I have a trip to Japan in less than a month and I really need to get my hands on it before then so I can actually learn how to use it.
I did see some really low prices on eBay like around 600 for the body and a kit lens but they all say International Version or White Box and I read online that those dont come with a US warranty which sounds super risky if the sensor dies or something goes wrong with the autofocus. Then there are those random websites like Abes of Maine that have it listed for cheap but then I read reviews saying they call you after you order and try to upsell you on expensive batteries or they wont ship it unless you buy a bundle... it is just such a headache and feels like a total scam.
Here is what I am actually looking for:
- Budget: Trying to stay under 750 for the camera and at least one lens (the 16-50mm is fine for now)
- Timeline: Need it in my hands by the 15th of next month
- Location: I am in Chicago so if there is a local shop that matches prices or has good deals let me know
- Use case: Mostly vlogging my travels and some food photography for my IG
Is there some secret site I am missing or maybe a specific time of week when the big retailers drop their prices? I looked at Used options on MPB and KEH too but even their Excellent condition stuff is priced almost the same as a brand new one which is just ridiculous. Like why would I buy used to save 20 dollars? Where are people actually finding these for a good deal right now...
Unfortunately, the pricing for the Sony ZV-E10 Mirrorless Camera with 16-50mm Lens is just a mess right now. I was looking for a backup body recently and it was honestly a letdown to see how little you save by going used. Saving 20 bucks on a used unit from a site like MPB just isnt worth losing that fresh manufacturer warranty, especially with how finicky mirrorless sensors can be when you are traveling abroad. You really gotta avoid those International Version listings on eBay. Ive known people who got stuck with a dead unit and Sony US literally refused to even look at it because the serial number wasnt for this region. Its a massive risk for a trip as big as Japan where you need things to just work. Since you are in Chicago, here is my direct advice for your situation:
- Stop checking those bait-and-switch sites like Abes of Maine. Those prices are fake and they will just hold your money hostage while trying to sell you overpriced junk.
- Walk into a Best Buy or check their site for Open Box deals specifically. An Open Box Excellent condition unit usually hits that 700 dollar mark and still gives you a standard return window if the autofocus acts up.
- Check out Central Camera Company downtown. Local shops sometimes have older stock or kits bundled with a SanDisk Extreme Pro 128GB SDXC card that they dont even advertise on the big aggregate sites. Its frustrating that the market is so inflated, but safety and a real warranty are more important than saving a tiny bit of cash when you have a hard deadline.
