I'm looking to expand my Canon lens collection but want to find some great deals on refurbished glass to save money. Does anyone have recommendations on the best places to shop for refurbished Canon lenses?
I'm particularly interested in some refurbished RF lenses.
What online retailers have you had good experiences with for refurbished Canon gear? Any brick-and-mortar stores worth checking out?
I appreciate any tips you can provide! Looking forward to finding some amazing refurbished lens deals.
To add to the point above: the thread has covered the main bases with Canon Direct and the big sites like MPB, which are solid choices. Personally, Ive been really satisfied with UsedPhotoPro (thats Roberts Cameras used site) lately. Their grading is usually very conservative, so the gear arrives looking better than expected. Quick tip for anyone buying refurb: do a simple DIY inspection immediately. Shine a phone light through the glass to check for any internal dust or haze. Testing the manual focus ring for any grit is also a must. Found a Canon RF 50mm f/1.8 STM there for cheap and it works perfectly, no complaints at all. Tbh, as long as there is a decent return window, youre pretty much set... just gotta be diligent when it first shows up at your door.
Saw this earlier but just now getting back to it. Honestly, I've had some pretty disappointing luck with refurbished glass from random marketplaces. Once bought a lens that was supposed to be factory serviced but it arrived with a loud grinding noise in the autofocus... was a total nightmare to return. Since then, I've been way more careful. I mostly stick to MPB Used Canon RF Lenses or KEH Used Canon RF Lenses now because they actually rate the condition properly. I grabbed a Canon RF 24-105mm f/4 L IS USM from KEH recently and even though it was rated as Excellent, it looked brand new to me. Another one to watch is Adorama Refurbished Canon Lenses because they often get official factory stock that's cheaper than the brand store. Just make sure you check the warranty terms on those third-party sites tho, sometimes they're shorter than the official one-year you get from Canon.
To add to the point above: the technical distinction between factory refurbished and seller refurbished is huge. You really have to dig into the inspection data.
- B&H Photo Video is a solid choice. Their grading system is quite granular, usually using a 1-10 scale that actually accounts for mechanical tolerances and glass purity.
- Lensrentals Keeper program is another sleeper hit. They maintain their own fleet, so you know the gear has been through regular diagnostic checks and element cleaning by pros.
- Big warning tho: stay away from renewed listings on sites like Amazon or Walmart. Most of those third-party sellers dont have the specialized collimators or calibration software needed to verify that the optical axis is perfectly centered on newer RF glass. Basically, if they dont mention a multi-point inspection or offer a warranty that matches the factory one, its a risk. Ngl, I always check if the seller is an authorized Canon service partner first... saves a lot of headaches later.
Try refurbished deals at Canon Direct Store.

Good to know!
Canon Refurbished products are usually sold directly at Canon USA Store.
Saw this earlier but just now getting back to it. > Any brick-and-mortar stores worth checking out? If you're looking for high-end glass like the Canon RF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM, you should definitely check out the Fred Miranda Buy/Sell forums. It's not a brick-and-mortar store, but the community there is very professional and people take better care of their gear than most refurb centers do. I've found some of my best deals there over the years. One thing to keep in mind tho is compatibility. If you're trying to save money on the RF system, don't forget you can use a Canon Control Ring Mount Adapter EF-EOS R. This lets you pick up older, cheaper refurbished EF glass that works perfectly. I've been using the Canon EF 16-35mm f/4L IS USM with an adapter on my mirrorless body and it's basically flawless. Just be careful with older third-party EF lenses... they sometimes need a firmware update via a dock to play nice with the new mirrorless autofocus systems. If you go that route, just double check the serial numbers for compatibility first.
Can confirm this works. Did the same thing on mine and its been solid ever since.
eBay also have some good deals on Canon refurbished lenses.
