Honestly im just so over my old 56mm f1.2 lens because it just feels so sluggish and soft on my X-H2S especially since I upgraded to the 40mp sensor. its driving me crazy. so I was thinking about the new WR version but then my logic was maybe the 90mm f2 is actually the way to go if I want that clinical sharpness? but im worried itll be way too long for the small studio space I booked in London for a shoot next month. i have about 900 pounds to spend and I just need something that actually resolves the detail on this sensor because right now everything looks mushy... which one is actually the sharpest for portraits?

^ This. Also, if youre worried about the budget, honestly the Viltrox AF 75mm f/1.2 Pro XF is a total steal right now. I have been using it for a bit and im really happy with how it handles the high res sensor. Its way cheaper than the Fuji alternatives.

  • Super sharp wide open
  • Fast autofocus
  • Half the price of the WR It works well in medium spaces, but yeah, that 90mm is probably gonna be too tight for a small studio in London.

Just catching up on this thread. i've tested nearly every X-mount lens over the years and the Fujifilm XF 56mm f1.2 R WR is the smartest bet for a tight London studio. The Fujifilm XF 90mm f2 R LM WR is technically sharper, but the 56mm was specifically built to resolve 40mp sensors. One tip: watch focus reliability. The 56mm's DC motor is slower than the 90mm's quad linear motors.

> Honestly im just so over my old 56mm f1.2 lens because it just feels so sluggish and soft on my X-H2S Unfortunately that old R lens just isnt as good as expected on high-res bodies. I had issues with the slow focus motor too... its frustrating. You really need the Fujifilm XF 56mm f1.2 R WR for a small studio. It resolves way more detail than the original. Quick tip: stop down to f4 for maximum sensor resolution.
