Ive been shooting with the SL2 for a while now but Im hitting a weird mental block picking a prime for a trip to Tokyo this spring. My logic was to just grab the 35mm APO-Summicron because the optics are unbeatable but I spent a few hours walking with it yesterday and the weight is starting to bug me. Street work usually means Im out for 6 or 7 hours and that lens is a tank.
So I was thinking maybe the 28mm Elmarit with an M-adapter? Or is the 45mm Sigma i-series actually good enough for the SL sensor? I dont want to lose that Leica rendering but I really need something lighter for the Shinjuku crowds...
The Leica 35mm f/2 APO-Summicron-SL ASPH is optically perfect but its a total tank! For Tokyo, you gotta grab the Sigma 45mm f/2.8 DG DN Contemporary. Its amazing on the SL2 sensor and the MTF performance is fantastic for its size! If you want wider, the Leica 28mm f/2.8 Elmarit-M ASPH has incredible micro-contrast tho the adapter adds bulk... Sigma is the winner for street!
