I'm finally heading to Japan next month and I've been obsessing over which single lens to bring for my Z6ii because I really dont want to be swapping glass in the middle of a crowded Tokyo street.
So I was thinking about the Nikkor Z 24-200mm since its basically the gold standard for a one-lens setup but then I started reading about the 24-120mm f/4 S and now I am completely torn. My logic was that the 200mm reach would be killer for some of those compressed mountain shots near Fuji but then I saw people saying the 24-120 is way sharper and better in low light since its a constant f/4... and Japan gets pretty dark in the alleys at night.
I found some used copies of both around my $1000 budget so price isnt the main issue. I guess I'm just stuck on whether I'll actually miss that 120-200mm range more than I'll miss the image quality of an S-line lens. Some guys on a different forum said the 24-200 gets a bit mushy at the long end anyway so is it even worth having? Just trying to figure out if there's a middle ground or if I should just bite the bullet on one of these...
