Which prime lens is actually the best for Nikon DSLR portrait work because I'm totally torn. Ive been looking at the 85mm f/1.8G because the bokeh looks incredible online but then I keep seeing people say the 50mm is better if you dont have a ton of space to move. Im shooting my sisters engagement photos at a local park next month and I have about 500 bucks max. I want that professional look but I dont want to be standing a mile away from them to get the shot. Is the 85mm really that much better for the background blur or should I just go with the 50mm and save some cash...
> Is the 85mm really that much better for the background blur Like someone mentioned, space is a factor, but honestly? Dont settle for the 50mm! I used the Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 85mm f/1.8G for my cousins wedding and the compression blew my mind! The background melts away way better than the 50mm ever could. Its about $450 brand new, fits your budget, and gives that elite professional look!
> Is the 85mm really that much better The bokeh is amazing! I love it! Caution is vital tho; backing up in parks is a safety risk for your gear. Stay alert while you shoot!
