Ive been shooting on my D750 for about five years now usually sticking to my 24-70mm but I’m finally sick of the weight. Im heading to Chicago next month for a street photography trip and I want something discrete but sharp. I thought about the 35mm f/1.8g but I keep hearing mixed things about the bokeh when compared to the 50mm and now im totally stuck. My budget is around 450 bucks so I cant go too crazy with the gold ring stuff. I want that classic look without the back pain of a heavy zoom lens. Which prime lens do you guys think fits best for walking around all day?

Unfortunately, the bokeh on that lens is pretty busy and not nearly as creamy as what you get with a 50. I used it for a bit but ended up hating how it rendered backgrounds... just looked messy and distracting in urban environments. If you want something discrete that wont break your back like that heavy zoom, you should definitely grab the Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8G. It is crazy light and basically invisible for street photography. The 50mm gives you that natural perspective that is just perfect for Chicago architecture. Its also much sharper wide open than the 35mm which often has chromatic aberration issues in high-contrast light. Plus, its way under your 450 budget. The 35mm is okay, but for the street, the 50mm is just more reliable tbh.
