I’m planning a trip and want to keep my setup light for the compact a7C. I’m torn between the Tamron 28-200mm and the Sony 24-105mm G. I need something versatile for landscapes and street shots without constant lens swaps. Does the Tamron balance well on such a small body, or is there a better 'do-it-all' option?

Building on the earlier suggestion, it looks like most of you are weighing that extra reach versus the wider angle. Saw this earlier and just wanted to add that I am super satisfied with my choice after a few big trips.

  • third party options are great for the wallet
  • native glass is unbeatable for reliability
  • weight isnt as big of a deal as people think Honestly if you want my take, just go with Sony. I have never had a single issue with native glass and the peace of mind is worth it when youre halfway across the world. Any of their newer zooms will be perfect and youll never look back tho. They just work every single time and the autofocus is basically instant compared to other stuff I have tried.
