Hitting up Tokyo in three weeks with my A7IV and need a single lens for the trip. Budget is $1k.
Ive looked at the Sony 24-105mm G but then saw the Tamron 28-200 is way cheaper and lighter for walking all day. Is that extra 4mm on the wide end actually worth the price jump?

Unfortunately, that 4mm on the Sony FE 24-105mm f/4 G OSS wasnt as good as expected for the price. Id just get the Tamron 28-200mm f/2.8-5.6 Di III RXD instead!

Just saw this! Tokyo is gonna be amazing. Quick question tho, are you doing a ton of night shooting or just daytime? Ngl that extra 4mm is kinda huge for tight city streets...
- Tamron 28-200mm f/2.8-5.6 Di III RXD is a beast and starts at f/2.8.
- Sony FE 24-105mm f/4 G OSS has better corners and OSS.
- Sigma 28-70mm f/2.8 DG DN Contemporary is way lighter if you dont need the reach.
