Ive been shooting with my a7IV for a couple years now mostly sticking to my 35mm and 85mm primes but I'm getting sick of swapping lenses constantly when I'm out. I have a big trip to the PNW coming up in three weeks and I really just want one lens that can live on the body. I was looking at the 24-70mm GM II since it's the obvious choice but man $2300 is a lot to drop right now. My logic was maybe the Sigma 24-70 Art instead for the better price but I keep hearing it's a bit of a brick to carry around all day. Then there's the Tamron 28-75 G2 but is 28mm wide enough? Im kinda stuck between weight vs focal range here...
In my experience, the Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 DG DN Art II is the most practical choice. I have tried many zooms over the years and that 24mm wide end is really crucial for PNW landscapes. Honestly, 28mm feels too cramped in the woods. The Mark II version fixed the weight issues of the original brick, and it basically matches the Sony performance for about $1200.
