Samyang RF-S AF 12mm F2.0 Lens Leaked Images

Chinese Weibo  leaked the first images of the upcoming Samyang  AF 12mm F2.0 Lens  for Canon RF-S mount.

Samyang has introduced its latest lens,  Canon RF-S AF12mm F2.0, featuring a 62mm filter thread and a minimum focusing distance of just 0.2 meters. This lens positions Samyang as a potential new player in the realm of Canon R-mount mirrorless lenses, joining the ranks of established brands like Voigtlander, Sigma, and Tamron, which have already secured licenses for this mount.

Moreover, credible sources reveal that three Chinese optical brands are currently in discussions with Canon regarding the R-mount lens license. These companies are awaiting meaningful advancements or the right moment to make their negotiations public.

This development raises interesting questions about Canon’s willingness to expand its lens ecosystem. The ongoing negotiations suggest that the brand is open to collaborating with various optical manufacturers, hinting at a future with even more options for photographers. As the industry evolves, it seems possible that Canon may be broadening its horizons, paving the way for diverse lens offerings compatible with R-mount cameras. This trend underscores the growing interest in mirrorless technology and may signal a new era for lens innovation within the Canon eco system.
