im literally leaving for italy in twelve days and i still havent picked a lens for my new r10. i bought it body-only thinking i could figure it out later but now i’m panicking lol. i really need something that can do everything because i’m only bringing one small bag for the whole two week trip so space is super limited.

so i was thinking about the rf-s 18-150mm because it covers everything and the range is basically perfect but then i saw some people online saying the quality drops off at the long end and i dont want my photos from rome looking all soft. my other logic was maybe getting the rf 24-105mm f/4-7.1 since it’s full frame compatible if i ever upgrade later but then i realized 24mm on a crop sensor is like almost 40mm and that feels way too tight for narrow streets and big cathedrals. i also looked at the 18-45mm but that zoom range is honestly pathetic for travel and i know i will regret not having reach.

budget is around 500 maybe 600 max if i stretch it and i really want something light because we are going to be walking like 20k steps a day. should i just stick with the 18-150 kit lens or is there some secret third option im missing that wont break the bank? the clock is ticking and i need to order something by friday so it gets here in time...

> my other logic was maybe getting the rf 24-105mm f/4-7.1 Unfortunately, that lens is gonna be a headache in narrow alleys. 24mm isnt wide enough for Italy on a crop body. I had issues with it being way too tight. Just get the Canon RF-S 18-150mm f/3.5-6.3 IS STM. It's not as good as expected at the long end, but it is definitely your safest bet for 20k steps a day.
