What is the best cheap lens I can get for my Canon Rebel T7? Sorry if this is a super dumb question but Im honestly so lost looking at all the options online. I just bought the camera used off Facebook Marketplace and it only came with the basic kit lens. I really want to take some better photos of my cat and maybe some outdoor stuff when I go hiking next month but I dont have much money to spend since I just started my first job. Is there anything decent around like 100 or 150 bucks? I have no idea what those numbers like 50mm or 18-55mm mean at all...
Honestly, grab the Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 STM. It is the absolute king of budget lenses. In my experience over the years, nothing else comes close for the price.
- It is super sharp for cat portraits
- Great in low light
- Tiny to carry hiking Forget the kit lens numbers for now, this one just works. You can easily find these used for under 100 bucks online. Best investment for your camera, period.
Just checking in! For hiking, the Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS STM is amazing for reach. If you want macro-ish cat shots, grab a Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 STM instead.
^ This. Also, finding gear that isnt totally overpriced is such a pain! I still cant believe how much companies charge for plastic glass. Just frustrating!
