So I just got a Canon 90D because everyone said it was a good camera for beginners, but the lens it came with is just not doing it for me. I feel like I constantly have to swap lenses when I am out taking photos of my dog in the park or just walking around downtown, and honestly I have no idea what I am doing. I want something versatile that can zoom in close but also get wide shots without spending like a thousand bucks since Im kinda on a budget. Is there one lens that does both? Or am I just asking for too much here...

Agree with the previous posts, superzooms are perfect for that. Another solid alternative is the Tamron 18-400mm F/3.5-6.3 Di II VC HLD. It gives you even more reach for your dog at the park compared to the Sigma 18-300mm F/3.5-6.3 DC Macro OS HSM Contemporary. Just keep in mind that at 400mm you really need a steady hand or good light to keep things sharp. Both are super versatile options for a 90D.

Grab the Sigma 18-300mm f/3.5-6.3 DC Macro OS HSM Contemporary. It hits that sweet spot for price and performance on your 90D. You get a massive focal range for everything from street shots to park candids. Optics are solid for the price and the stabilizer works well.

Honestly, you arent asking for too much at all. The kit lens that comes with the 90D is okay for learning, but it definitely leaves you wanting more reach. I used to swap lenses constantly too until I picked up a superzoom. It makes walking around town way easier since you dont have to carry a bag full of glass. Check out the Sigma 18-300mm f/3.5-6.3 DC Macro OS HSM Contemporary. It basically covers everything from wide landscape shots to getting a tight zoom on your dog across the park. I've been really happy with the versatility and it saves me so much hassle. It isnt the sharpest lens on earth at the extreme end, but for the price, it works well and keeps things simple while you are out and about.
