Just picked up an R6 Mark II and I am totally lost with lenses. Sorry if this is a dumb question but what is the best glass for landscapes? Im going on a trip to Iceland next month and need something wide.

  • budget is around 800-1000 bucks
  • needs to be decent in low light
  • super simple to use

Any ideas?

> need something wide. Iceland is epic. Honestly, for that budget, just grab the Canon RF 16mm F2.8 STM. It is tiny and super sharp for the price. If you want something more versatile, look at the Canon RF 15-30mm F4.5-6.3 IS STM. The zoom range is great for landscapes, tho it is a bit slower in low light. Stick with the 16mm prime if you want those clean night shots.

> need something wide. Iceland is epic. Totally agree, Iceland is unreal. When I went, I thought I needed all this fancy glass, but I ended up realizing weight matters way more than specs when you are hiking in the wind. I brought the Canon RF 16mm F2.8 STM and it honestly lived on my camera the whole time. It is super cheap too, so you have extra cash for those insane Icelandic food prices. If you want something a bit more flexible without breaking the bank, check out the Canon RF 15-30mm F4.5-6.3 IS STM. It is super lightweight and honestly handles landscapes just fine. Dont overthink the L-series lenses if you are on a budget; you can save hundreds and just put that into an extra battery for the cold. Just have fun man.
