Ive been staring at lens reviews for three days straight and my head is spinning. Im taking my new R6 to Japan next month and need one lens that can basically stay on the camera the whole time. I keep seeing the RF 24-105mm f/4L recommended but then people on YouTube say the f/4 aperture is gonna suck for night street photography in Shinjuku. But then the 24-70mm 2.8 is like $2500 which I definitely cant afford right now.

  • Budget is $1200 max
  • Need to shoot street, food, and some portraits
  • Dont want to carry a massive brick all day

Is the f/4 actually okay for low light or am I gonna regret not getting something faster?

I'd suggest the Canon RF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM. Used mine in Shinjuku. You might want to consider that f/4 gets grainy in those neon alleys tho.
