In my experience, look at these:

Totally agree. In my experience, f/2.8 is mandatory for dim weddings. Tip: look for used deals to save cash.

Works great for me

> Get the Canon RF 24-70mm f/2.8L IS USM. Building on the earlier suggestion, that 2.8 zoom is definitely the move if you want total reliability. I have been shooting with it for a long time and I am super satisfied with how it handles dim venues... it just grabs focus and wont let go. If you are trying to stay under that 1800 cap, I would honestly look for a refurbished Canon RF 24-70mm f/2.8L IS USM directly from the Canon store. I have bought refurb gear from them before and it always works well and looks brand new. Its a smart way to get pro glass on a tighter budget. Another option if you want to save even more cash is grabbing the Canon RF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM for the daytime stuff and then adding a fast prime like the Canon RF 35mm f/1.8 Macro IS STM for the dark moments. You would have plenty of money left over for extra batteries or a decent flash... you can never have enough of those for a wedding anyway haha.

ngl i am dealing with this exact same issue right now and it is beyond frustrating. i have been shooting on my r6 for ages and i am mostly satisfied with the setup but this specific low light hunting is just... ugh. i had a gig last weekend in a literal cave of a ballroom and i felt like such an amateur just waiting for the lens to catch up while the moment passed me by. ive been hunting for a fix for like two months and honestly i still cant find a clear answer that makes sense for my wallet. i really want to stay budget-friendly but it feels like every solution costs a fortune and i am still just as stuck as you are. it is so annoying when you know the camera is capable but you just cant find that one perfect lens that wont break the bank.
