Ugh, sorry if this is a super dumb question but I just bought an R5 and I am totally lost. I saved up forever to get this body but now I have no idea which lens to put on it. Everything looks so expensive and complicated! I am just gonna be shooting photos of my golden retriever in the backyard and maybe some family trips, nothing professional.

  • Need something easy to use for beginners
  • Budget is around 800 bucks maybe?
  • Not looking for anything heavy

Is there like one "do it all" lens I should get? I am kinda panicking that I spent all this money on the camera and picked the wrong gear...

Dont panic! You made an amazing choice. Seriously, the R5 is a beast. For your golden retriever and trips, just grab the Canon RF 24-105mm f/4-7.1 IS STM. It is super light, fits your budget perfectly, and handles basically everything.

  • It is really sharp
  • Great for backyard candids
  • Fits your gear bag easily Honestly, you really dont need anything else to start having fun. Go out and take some shots!
