So I finally decided to stop using the kit lens that came with my Canon Rebel T7 because honestly the bokeh is just non-existent and my portraits look super flat. I really want that blurry background look for taking some photos of my niece for her birthday next month, but im totally overwhelmed by the options out there. My budget is tight, like under 200 bucks would be ideal if possible, though I could stretch a little for something thatll last.

Im currently looking at:

• Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 STM (the classic nifty fifty)
• Yongnuo 50mm f/1.8 (way cheaper but is the quality actually okay?)
• Canon EF-S 24mm f/2.8 pancake lens

I feel like the 50mm is probably the move but im worried about it being too tight since the T7 is a crop sensor body. Is the 24mm pancake actually good for portraits or is it too wide and gonna make faces look weird? I dont really have a ton of space to move back if im shooting indoors at home either. Has anyone used these on a T7 specifically? Would love to know if the autofocus is slow on the cheaper one or if I should just bite the bullet and get the Canon version...
