Which travel zoom lens is actually worth buying for the Canon R6? Im seriously fed up with lugging around this 24-105mm f/4L and it just isnt doing it for me anymore. I just spent a week hiking around Glacier and my neck is absolutely destroyed from the weight plus the 105mm reach was just not enough for any of the mountain goats or distant peaks. Its supposed to be the gold standard but I feel like I'm carrying a lead pipe for mediocre results.

I have a trip to the Dolomites coming up in exactly 18 days and I am desperate to find an alternative that wont make me regret bringing a camera at all. I was looking at the RF 24-240mm but some people say the distortion is crazy without in-camera fixes and I dont know if the quality holds up on the R6 sensor. Is it better to just grab the cheap 24-105mm STM to save weight or is that just a massive downgrade in glass?

  • budget is around 1000 bucks tops
  • need it for landscape and some casual wildlife
  • must be light enough for 10+ mile hikes

I honestly just want one lens that can do it all so I can stop swapping glass in the wind and rain. Is the 24-240 the only real choice or am I missing something...

Grab the Canon RF 24-240mm f/4-6.3 IS USM! Its absolutely amazing for hikes.

  • Buy used or refurbished to save big
  • Just keep auto-corrections on Youll seriously love it!
