- Sony Alpha 7 IV Mirrorless Camera Body (Used/Refurbished)
- Sigma 35mm f/1.4 DG DN Art for Sony E Grab a used body to save cash for that Sigma prime! The f/1.4 aperture is amazing for low light in those NY venues. Check sites like MPB for deals, they're fantastic for staying under $2500!!
Unfortunately you arent gonna find many real bundle deals on the Sony Alpha 7 IV Mirrorless Camera. Sony keeps those prices locked down tight. I tried finding a discount recently and it was basically full price everywhere, super disappointing.
- skip the kit lens, its not as good as expected for professional wedding shots.
- check for open-box units at retailers like Adorama to save a few hundred. Better to buy the body and a used Sony FE 50mm f/1.8 lens to start.
Honestly, skip the kits. I tried the basic lens when I first started shooting events and it just couldnt handle the quick focus shifts during the ceremony. Buying the body alone and hunting for glass elsewhere is the move. I ended up switching over to a Fujifilm X-T5 setup for a bit because the colors were so much easier to grade, but honestly, the autofocus on the Sony is just on another level for weddings. It never misses. Speaking of weddings though, I was at one in Brooklyn last summer and the caterer served these tiny sliders that were somehow cold in the middle... like, how do you even mess up a slider? My gear was fine but the food was a total disaster. Anyway, focus on getting good glass and you'll be set for your shoot.
