Honestly so fed up with my old Sony A6000, the autofocus keeps failing during my kids soccer games and I missed like half the action today. I am ready to switch to Canon mirrorless ASAP before our family trip next month. My logic was that Black Friday is right now so I could grab an R10 or R50 on sale, but I am barely seeing any real discounts online, just the same old retail price bundle packages. My budget is strictly under 1000. Has anyone spotted any legit Black Friday deals on Canon mirrorless bodies yet or am I just looking in the wrong places?
Unfortunately, BF deals are weak. Compare these:
- Canon EOS R10 with RF-S 18-45mm Lens: 15fps mechanical, deeper buffer.
- Canon EOS R50 with RF-S 18-45mm Lens: 12fps, but buffer is not as good as expected. Go R10.
I went through this exact same headache a couple of years ago when my oldest started track. I was shooting on an old rebel and missed so many finishes. Tbh, the retail holiday sales on cameras are usually pretty disappointing. They just repackage the same MSRP with a cheap SD card and a bag you'll never use. If you want to stay under that 1000 budget, you need to be careful with buying brand new retail right now. I would suggest checking the official Canon Refurbished store instead. Last holiday season, I managed to snag a refurbished Canon EOS R10 Body for way cheaper than retail, and it looked and performed brand new. But one warning if you make the jump... the RF-S lens lineup is still pretty limited. If you want a longer zoom for those soccer games, you'll need something like the Canon RF-S 55-210mm F5-7.1 IS STM lens. If you buy everything brand new, you're gonna blow past your budget fast once you add lenses and extra batteries. Keep a close eye on the Canon refurb site daily because those restocks sell out in minutes, but that is definitely your best bet for a real discount.
