Anyone seen any legit deals on Canon mirrorless setups lately? I have been scouring the web for an EOS R8 or maybe the R7 if the price is right. I saw a decent refurbished price on Canons actual site but its been out of stock for like a week now so that doesnt help me much. Then I found these grey market ones on eBay for way less but people say the warranty is basically non-existent and that makes me super nervous. Im in Chicago and really need to stay under $1300 for everything since I have my sisters wedding coming up in three weeks and my old T6i is basically a brick now. Is there a specific site I should be checking or should I just wait...
I've been shooting for over a decade and honestly, the jump you're about to make is huge. I remember when I finally ditched my old Rebel for full-frame mirrorless right before a big event. It felt like cheating because the eye-tracking is so good. Ngl, I would steer clear of those eBay grey market deals... had a buddy get burned when his sensor developed a hot pixel and Canon wouldnt touch it. For a wedding, you really want the full-frame sensor in the Canon EOS R8 Mirrorless Camera Body because dark receptions are brutal. The R7 is great but the R8 low light is king for those indoor shots.
- Hit the Canon Refurbished store and just keep refreshing. I snagged my last body there by checking at weird hours like 2 AM.
- Look at B&H used gear. They are super reliable and conservative with their condition ratings.
- A Canon EOS R8 with RF 24-50mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM Kit is usually right around $1300 brand new if you catch a sale.
