Where can I actually get a decent deal on a Canon mirrorless right now without getting ripped off? Honestly im so fed up with my old 80D just freezing up in the middle of shoots and I need to upgrade to something like an R6 or even an R7 before my cousins wedding in two weeks but the prices everywhere are just insane. Ive checked B&H and Adorama but everything is full price or barely on sale and my budget is strictly capped at $1500 for the body. Is there some secret refurbished site or a specific coupon code im missing? I just cant justify these retail prices and im starting to lose my mind looking at the same pages every day...
Unfortunately, prices are pretty stagnant and paying full retail is a joke lately. I've had issues with the Canon EOS R7 32.5MP APS-C Mirrorless Camera sensor readout speed causing some nasty rolling shutter in electronic shutter mode, which is definitely not ideal for wedding dance floors. It's technically impressive for a crop sensor with those dual card slots, but the high ISO performance is just not as good as expected once you hit 6400. You might want to look at a used Canon EOS R6 20.1MP Full-Frame Mirrorless Camera from a site like MPB or KEH instead. The 20MP sensor is technically lower res than the R7, but the low light capability and the 8-stop IBIS are way more reliable for what you're doing. Most retail units are overpriced anyway, and honestly, the build quality on some newer mirrorless bodies feels kinda flimsy compared to your old 80D.
I'm super happy with my R6 I got from MPB last month. It's safe. What lenses are you keeping tho? Check for a used Canon EOS R6 20.1MP Full-Frame Mirrorless Camera.
Regarding what #3 said about "I'm super happy with my R6 I got..." - man that is so awesome! Honestly I love seeing people get hyped on their gear because it really is amazing how much better the autofocus is on a Canon EOS R6 Mirrorless Camera. tbh you should just check out Reddit or YouTube for this. There are tons of people who literally spend their whole day tracking these specific sales and they have way better info than I could ever type out here.
- look up the canon deals subreddit
- search youtube for canon price trackers
- check out some dedicated price comparison sites I saw a fantastic video about this exact topic last week, just search for how to find Canon EOS R7 Mirrorless Camera deals and it should be one of the top results! It will show you how to set up alerts so you dont have to keep losing your mind refreshing pages every day. It's way more reliable than just hoping for a random sale to pop up!
Same boat, watching this
Ok adding this to my list of things to try. Thanks for the tip!
Its probably best to check the official Canon USA refurbished store before you buy anything else. Honestly, its the most reliable way to get a real deal without the risk of getting scammed. They offer the same one-year warranty as new gear, and the units are basically indistinguishable from retail anyway.
- The Canon EOS R6 Mirrorless Body regularly drops to around $1,299 on that site during their flash sales.
- Try the Canon Loyalty Program by calling their sales line. If you mention your Canon EOS 80D DSLR is failing, they often provide a solid discount on a Canon EOS R7 Mirrorless Camera Body.
- Greentoe is another decent option where you can name your price and authorized dealers accept it. Refurbished is the way to go if youre on a strict budget. They ship pretty fast too, so you will get it well before the wedding.
Subbing for updates
Regarding what #2 said about "Unfortunately, prices are pretty stagnant and paying full..." - yeah, it's honestly a total headache trying to find a break on these bodies lately. Ive been shooting with my mirrorless setup for three years now and while Im still super satisfied with the performance, the cost to get in is definitely staying high tho. Market is weird.
- try checking out KEH for used gear
- their ratings are usually super conservative so you get stuff that looks brand new anyway
- check local camera shop websites for open-box deals too
Like someone mentioned, those used shops are an option but honestly i disagree that they are the easy fix everyone makes them out to be because the stock is always empty or way overpriced lately. I have this exact same issue right now and its been driving me crazy for over a month. I am super satisfied with how the actual tech performs but i just cant find a way to get my hands on a body without overpaying. Its like we are all looking at the same three websites and nothing is moving... still havent found any solution that actually works.
