im trying to get into photography for my sisters wedding in december but i am totally lost looking at these prices and its making me so nervous. i only have exactly $1500 saved up but it looks way more expensive everywhere i look online. is the fujifilm x-t5 currently on sale anywhere for under $1500?
Honestly, finding a brand new Fujifilm X-T5 Mirrorless Digital Camera Body for under $1,500 is gonna be pretty tough right now. Most retailers have it stuck at that $1,699 price point and Fuji doesnt usually do massive discounts this early in the life cycle. I have been using mine for a few months now and i am totally satisfied with how it handles, but the price tag definitely bites if youre on a strict budget. If you really want to stay under $1,500 and still have money left for a lens—cuz you definitely need glass for that wedding—i'd seriously look at the used market. Sites like MPB or KEH are great for this. I actually bought a used Fujifilm X-T4 Mirrorless Digital Camera Body a while back and it worked perfectly right out of the box. Honestly, the results were so good i almost didnt upgrade to the T5. No complaints at all with the older flagship models if you want to save some cash. Quick tip: Check the official Fujifilm refurbished store on their website. They occasionally drop the Fujifilm X-T5 Mirrorless Digital Camera Body Black for around $1,450, but you have to be fast because they sell out in minutes. Don't stress too much tho. You'll do great at the wedding, just make sure you get some practice in before December! If you need help picking a lens that fits the remaining budget, just let me know.
Building on the earlier suggestion, prices wont drop soon. Maybe try the Fujifilm X-S20 Mirrorless Camera instead? It has reliable autofocus and ibis for weddings, but fits your $1500 budget much better.
Agreeing with the others. I would suggest being careful about blowing your whole budget on just a body tho. Does that $1500 need to cover lenses and extra batteries too?
Ok adding this to my list of things to try. Thanks for the tip!
No way, I literally just dealt with this yesterday. Small world.
DenNetrY is 100% right about the hidden costs. I've shot a couple weddings for friends and the last thing you want is to be standing there with a $1500 camera and no battery or space left on your card. I'm very satisfied with my current setup because I prioritize reliability over the newest specs. If you really cant find a deal on the Fujifilm X-T5 Mirrorless Digital Camera Body right now, here is a safer way to go:
- Look for a used Fujifilm X-T4 Mirrorless Digital Camera Body instead. It has the dual card slots which is a must for weddings.
- Buy at least two SanDisk 128GB Extreme PRO UHS-II SDXC cards. You need to record to both at the same time in case one dies.
- Grab a couple extra Fujifilm NP-W235 Rechargeable Li-Ion Battery packs. I've been using that older body for a while and it works well for everything I need. Weddings are unpredictable... you dont want to be the person who missed the kiss because of a technical glitch. Stick to the budget and get the safety gear first. It'll save you a huge headache later on.
