Im losing my mind trying to pick a camera before my sisters wedding in July. Budget is tight, like 700 bucks max, and I cant decide if I should grab a used Sony a6000 or stretch for a Canon R50. My logic was that the Sony has cheaper lenses which helps the budget, but the R50 just feels more modern? I also looked at the Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark IV because its so compact but Im worried about the sensor size being too small for low light at the reception. Does anyone know if there are legit sales on these right now or am I better off just looking for refurbished gear? Totally stuck.

Honestly, the Canon R50 24.2MP Mirrorless is a fantastic choice for a beginner because the autofocus is just amazing compared to older tech. It will save you so much headache during the reception! Stick to a kit lens and you will be golden.

Jumping in here because I actually went through the same dilemma last year. Honestly, if you want something reliable that fits the budget, look at the Fujifilm X-T200 24.2MP Mirrorless. It has a great sensor and is super fun to shoot with. I personally prefer the Fuji colors for weddings, they need way less editing afterwards. Just grab a cheap prime lens and you'll be set for the reception. Dont sweat the gear too much, just have fun at the wedding.
