Ive been shooting on my trusty old DSLR for about seven years now and while it has served me well, the autofocus tracking is starting to drive me insane whenever I try to capture my golden retriever running around the backyard.
I have about 2500 bucks set aside for a body and maybe one decent prime lens, and Im based in the states so I keep checking the usual retailers but everything feels like its in this weird transition phase right now. I keep hearing rumors about new sensors coming out next spring but man, the urge to just upgrade right now is killing me. Is the tech gap between the current generation and what is supposedly around the corner big enough to justify waiting another six months? Ive read so many conflicting reviews about IBIS improvements and high ISO performance that my brain is kinda fried at this point. I wouldnt stress the IBIS improvements too much unless you are shooting video handheld in low light. For your golden retriever, that AF subject tracking is the only spec that matters. Prices might nudge down a bit during black friday, but stock has been weird lately so waiting might mean missing out on what is available now. Just grab something decent and start shooting.
